TechTrans Introduces Online Waybill For Customers
Feature Available to TechTrans Customers Through Secure Web Site SOUTHLAKE, Texas Feb. 6, 2002 Technical Transportation, Inc. (TechTrans), a provider of specialized transportation, logistics and tracking services, has launched an online waybill program that is available to all its customers. Accessed through TechTrans’ secure Web site, the program allows customers to create their own waybills from any computer with an Internet connection. “The online waybill is available when and where our customers need it,” said Frank Friedberg, information systems developer for TechTrans. “The software offers plenty of input assistance to minimize data entry errors and to make it easy and convenient to use.” For example, explains Friedberg, numeric fields include calculators that pop-up with a right mouse click, while date-fields operate via point and click calendars. The software allows users the choice to create their own waybill number or let the system select one and it also lets users cache third party and originating addresses on their own computers. Additional addresses that are commonly used by a particular client can be filled in via point and click pop-up lists. “The waybill software pre-validates all the information prior to submission,” according to Friedberg. “If any required fields are blank, the system instructs the user to make the necessary corrections. In the rare instance that a user requests a specific waybill number that is preexistent, they may simply provide an alternate or acquiesce in favor of an auto-generated waybill number.” Once submitted, the waybill can be printed, inclusive of all special instructions, terms and conditions for the shipment, and with a place for driver signatures to serve as the pickup receipt. Upon receipt of the information, an automatic notice alerts the account coordinator who then completes processing the shipment. TechTrans generates an e-mail confirmation, including a PDF of the waybill that is sent to any number of pre-designated recipients. Through TechTrans’ secure Web site, the customer has complete 24-hour access to information about the shipment. This includes tracking, waybill lookup, delivery schedule, and proof of delivery. Security checks on the site eliminate hacking, data entry errors and duplication. “With the online waybill, TechTrans customers have the flexibility to initiate shipments online at anytime or anywhere, whether they are at the office or on the road,” said Len Batcha, president of TechTrans. “Online waybill is the type of innovative service that we know our customers want from their shipping and logistics provider. This service sets us apart from the competition and is another example of how TechTrans takes business farther.” Founded in 1990, Technical Transportation, Inc. provides transportation, logistics and tracking for the highly specialized electronics, telecommunications and medical industries, store concepts, as well as business-to-business and E-Commerce.
