The partnership allows TechTrans customers to order both shipping and field engineering services simultaneously. TechTrans handles transporting the shipment and schedules technicians through Digitron’s national network to meet the delivery and install the equipment. For example, when customers of Dade Behring, the largest seller of diagnostic medical equipment in the world, replaced equipment, the existing product needed to be decontaminated and returned to the manufacturer for refurbishment. To allow Dade Behring’s technicians to focus on maintaining new equipment, TechTrans and Digitron took over this process. First, the complete step down procedures for decontaminating the machines were posted on Digitron’s secure Web site, www.digitron.net, where they were available for field engineers to review. Next, a safety kit was created that included goggles, a lab coat and gloves. These kits can then be directly shipped to the site where they are waiting for the field engineers scheduled for the job. When the technician’s work is completed, TechTrans’ crews pack and ship the equipment back to Dade Behring. Throughout the process, the schedule, proof of de-installation and shipment-tracking information is available to Dade Behring at techtrans.com. As a result, Dade Behring now makes one call to schedule all the services when a customer has equipment to be decontaminated and returned. “This arrangement allows Dade Behring to concentrate on providing service for the equipment their customers are using,” said Anker. “It also creates a seamless one-step procedure to handle an important part of their business.” TechTrans and Digitron likewise assisted the Cannon company with a solution to guarantee that copier purchasers were not inconvenienced with delivery and technician schedules. Cannon copier orders are therefore forwarded to TechTrans, who in turn contacts the customer and arranges a delivery and installation appointment. The copier is delivered and met by a technician for installation all at the same time. This has eliminated technicians going to jobsites before the machine has arrived and copiers sitting crated and idle waiting to be set up.
